The PepsiCo and the Coca-Cola Co. announced this week they will begin listing caffeine information on labels of drinks they sell in the United States.
Both companies said they have begun phasing in the new labels, which will show the number of milligrams of caffeine per serving.
Consumer and health groups have long called for the disclosures to inform parents, pregnant women and others who want to limit consumption of the stimulant.
The American Dietetic Association recommends limiting caffeine to 200-300 mg per day for most people.
