The Latest and Greatest Ingredients in Anti-Aging

It's one thing to feel the aches and pains of getting older, but worse than that is how you feel when you look in the mirror! Another day, another line. Can we really reverse it? Is there a skincare "fountain of youth" or a magic potion out there? Help is available, and I for one am not going down without a fight!

Skincare is a billion dollar business...and that's good news for us. Not because we're spending all our money on it, obviously, but because it enables large cosmetic and skin care companies to hire the best scientists and research the newest science in achieving the "fountain of youth!"

Pharmaceutical and cosmeceutical companies are spending millions on finding the best ingredients and compounds to fight the one thing we hate most...the dreaded wrinkle! They know we'll spend billions of skincare retail dollars to buy it so it behooves them to do the research. They did the math!

So what's available in anti-aging skincare today? What's the latest and greatest? Well in addition to tried and true ingredients such as retinoids, alpha hydroxy acids, anti-oxidants, and vitamin C, there are some new kids on the block.

We've known for quite some time about hyaluronic acid being one of the best ingredients for it's hydrating and moisturizing abilities in skincare products. But what keeps that molecule from being broken down? In other words, it's not going to hold water if it's destroyed by free radicals and enzymes such as "hyaluronidase." Wikipedia.com defines hyaluronidases as a family of enzymes that degrade hyaluronic acid. California based company Bio-Cell Technology seems to be stepping up to the plate to help maintain the integrity of the precious hyaluronic acid molecule. They've developed BioCell Collagen II Cosmetic Grade. This product was shown to suppress hyaluronidase, a key enzyme that may contribute to skin aging," says Suhail Ishaq, Vice President of Bio-Cell Technology. He also stated that this technology will be aimed at premium markets and then filter into the mass markets, although in smaller volumes and at a later date.

Kudos to all the skin care companies who are working tirelessly, researching day and night all to help us feel a little better when we look in the mirror...oh and more likely for doing the math!
