Skincare On A Shoestring

Totally broke and tired of spending the big bucks on beauty? Read on for tips for beautiful skin on a tight budget!

Let's face it, a lot of us aren't rich today. While some have lucked out and hit fame and fortune, many of us still live paycheck to paycheck. No one wants to ignore dry skin or premature aging issues, but at the same time it may not be reasonable to spend $80 on a 2 week supply of a skincare wonder serum. So what's a girl to do? Check out these tips for low cost skincare and beauty greatness!

Where Should You Spend Your Money? All dermatologists will agree that your biggest splurge needs to go toward sunscreen. While wrinkles and flaky skin are annoying, sunscreen actually protects your health, and so an SPF 15 or higher should always be your utmost priority when it comes to budgeting.

A Cost Efficient Makeup Remover A lot of people on a tight income have found that baby shampoo can double in your skincare routine as a makeup remover and facial wash. Totally gentle to the eyes and soft on the skin, baby shampoo gives babies unbelievable skin, so why not you? You will be amazed at how well this works on normal or sensitive skin as part of your regular skin care.

Oil Is Not Always Oily! As scary as it may sound, olive oil can work very well as a moisturizer. All of our skincare related mental programming is more than likely freaked out at the suggestion, but olive oil really is nourishing and wonderful for your face! If you don't like the smell, you can add a few drops of essential oils like lavender, rose, or anything else that is appealing to your senses. These essential oils last a very long time and you will be hard pressed to use them up quickly, so they are worth the extra money! And of course, olive oil is much more of a frugal buy than your typical skincare branded moisturizers with the high price tag mark up.

Keep It Simple Most skin types will do just fine with a very mild cleanser. Don't spend a lot of money buying all of the cutting edge skin care cleansers. Instead, find something simple and affordable that you love, and stay loyal. A lot of mild soaps and cleansers are of high quality, but since they stay humble and low profile with their advertising, they often get ignored.

Remember that a lot of the skin care issues that we dread are actually caused by genetics and environment more than anything. Sometimes the best skincare routine that you can have is to just be simple, gentle, and consistent with your skin. Both your face and your bank account will be happy that you did!
